Fukuoka Trip (First Day)

Last month, my friends and I saw Jetstar was having a sale and we spontaneously bought our tickets to Fukuoka!

The flight to Fukuoka was cheap as it was very early in the morning that we wouldn't reach Narita airport even if we took the first train. So we ended up staying all night at the airport, trying to sleep on the airport benches. As it was uncomfortable we ended up looking like zombies who can fall asleep anytime, anywhere for the first second days of our trip.

Fukuoka is located at Kyushu island, the island on the southern part of Japan. It's slightly warmer than Tokyo with much less people! What impress me the most is how close the airport is to the centre of the city, it was just 10 minutes away by subway. Awesome!

Fukuoka Trip (First Day)
(Dazaifu, Yanagawa and Tenjin)

the modern looking Hakata station in the morning
our yummy Japanese styled breakfast somewhere near the station :D

Dazaifu, #1 tourist spot in Fukuoka

They look so good! those are real strawberries btw but too bad I wasn't hungry so I didn't get any

Starbucks with its unique architecture and interior

The Shrine

Not sure what flower it was but since it was too early for Sakura to bloom by that time so maybe plum?

Cute family pic? yes yes?

with old ladies in kimono

an old man and his monkey was having a show

This was one of the best food during the trip! Dazaifu speciality!

After Dazaifu, we went to Yanagawa river, another famous tourist spot.

we took this 70 min boat ride which was fun at first but starting to get boring and chilly after the first 30 min...

A japanese wedding on a boat! We were lucky to spot this

we went to Tenjin at night to have dinner at some stalls nearby the main road as these stalls which only open at night are one of Fukuoka's speciality as well.

Mentaiko (Cod roe) is the famous food of Fukuoka!

This was really good! Tofu, mentaiko and cheese on a hotplate

Next on the blog: A day trip to Nagasaki!
